New US secretary of state should pursue realistic approach

Boroujerdi said history shows that whenever the US had dealt with issues realistically, it would have faced with less problems in the region.

On the sidelines of the Majlis open session today, Boroujerdi told reporters that lifting anti-Iran sanctions is a prerequisite for talks between Iran and the sextet- the US, UK, France, China and Russia plus Germany.

Asked about Kerry's influence in Iran-5+1 negotiations, he said the main problem is that Washington follows arrogant attitudes ignoring Iran's influential role in the region.

On Iran-sextet future talks, the MP expressed hope the discussions will be based on pragmatic approach.

Describing sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran as illegal, the parliamentarian stressed that lifting such restrictions is essential for future talks.

On situation in Syria, he said symbolic presence of President Bashar al-Assad which gives him no authority over Syrian issues is against democratic rules.

Boroujerdi expressed hope that all who make efforts to settle the Syrian crisis, would respect the votes of the Syrian nation.
