Saudis must stop violation of human rights

Tabatabaei called on Riyadh to observe the principles of human rights, adding, "In a century which is known for 'freedom and democracy', apprehension and torture in response to expression of opinion is not acceptable in any part of the world, and the al-Saud should distance from medieval ideas."

The Iranian lawmaker pointed to the ongoing imprisonment of a huge number of political activists in Saudi Arabia and pointed out, "Political activists are incarcerated by the Saudi government without trial or legal charges and most of them have been apprehended on the basis of unfounded suspicions."
