US claims of Iran interference in Yemen blame game

“Yemen is an Islamic country with a revolutionary nation and what is going on within its borders is the concern of the Yemeni nation and they should decide about it,” Boroujerdi said.

“Iran has never interfered in the internal affairs of other countries and we believe that it is for the people of every country to decide about their domestic issues,” he added.

The Iranian lawmaker said that the US has interfered a lot in internal affairs of many regional countries, including Yemen, but because its policies have failed, it usually plays the blame game and recent remarks by the US ambassador to Yemen are part of the same game played by Washington.

Boroujerdi stressed that Iran has always supported the wave of Islamic Awakening as a popular movement against the US hegemonic policies.

The regional popular uprisings and the Islamic Awakening are against the illegitimate interests pursued by the US in the region and Iran has always highlighted this, Boroujerdi concluded.
