Iran warns of Muslims' dire living conditions in Myanmar

"Actually, it can be said that Muslims in Myanmar are just alive but don't live as they are entangled with numerous problems," Iranian Legislator Ebrahim Aqamohammadi said in Tehran on Sunday, elaborating on the results of a recent visit by an Iranian parliamentary delegation to Myanmar.

He described the situation of the Muslims in Myanmar as woeful, and said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran's delegation sought to decrease and settle the problems of this region's Muslims and some desirable negotiations were held and some proposals were also made in this regard."

Aqamohammadi blasted the Myanmar government for its green light to the Buddhists to massacre Muslims in the country, and said the silence of the international community and the UN on the killings further aggravated the situation.

A delegation headed by Vice Chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mansour Haqiqatpour and comprised of Ebrahim Aqamohammadi and Ahmad Bakhshayesh Ardestani, and two other members of the commission visited Myanmar recently.
