Tehran, Feb 21, (ICANA) – Deputy Speaker of Russian State Duma Nicola Levichev said on Thursday that Russia never recognized unilateral sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran dismissing them non-constructive and not useful.

The deputy speaker of Russians State Duma who co-chairs Russia-Iran parliamentary group made the remarks in a meeting with Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.

Larijani expressed satisfaction with growing relations in different fields between the two countries and said ground is well-prepared for expansion of political, economic and parliamentary cooperation and that the Iranian parliament welcomes such trend.

Elaborating on Russian stand on regional and international developments as positive and closer to Iran, he said the powerful presence of Iran in regional developments is to the benefit of Russia and the two countries can play better role at international scene.

The two sides should seize the current opportunity to broaden economic, industrial and scientific cooperation to the benefit of both nations, Larijani said.

Larijani called for immediate implementation of the agreements already signed between the two countries.

The Russian parliamentarian, for his part, termed Iran as permanent and geopolitical ally of Russia and called for expansion of political, economic and cultural relations between Tehran and Moscow.

Referring to the upcoming visit between Iran and G5+1 in Almaty, he expressed the hope that efforts made by Russia to this end will bear fruit and to witness positive results.
