Davatgari identified the Saudi diplomat and reckless driver on Wednesday as Yasser bin Mohammad Ali Yami.
He added that the diplomat, who is fluent in Farsi, was appointed to the consular section of the Saudi Embassy since January 2011.
Davatgari stated that the diplomat was driving the vehicle with diplomatic plates at more than 130 kilometers per hour on Artesh Boulevard in northeast of Tehran before ramming into the Pride vehicle which was slowing down to stop. He noted that the Pride jumped nearly 60 meters ahead.
The lawmaker said the Saudi diplomat’s blood alcohol level came back 2.87 percent in Imam Hussein Hospital three hours after the accident.
Davatgari said the diplomat, whose vehicle’s insurance had expired, might have been returning from a party.
