Tehran, April 17, (ICANA) – Chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi stressed that Iran seeks to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and welcomes any talks to state its stance in this regards.

In a meeting with visiting Australian Deputy Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Trade Paul Grigson here in Tehran on Tuesday, Boroujerdi pointed to Iran's nuclear program, and stated, "The peaceful use of the nuclear technology is the goal of the Islamic Republic of Iran's policy and we welcome any talks and negotiations to voice our stances."

As regards the bilateral relations between Iran and Australia, the Iranian lawmaker called for joint cooperation to use all the existing capacities to further boost and improve the two countries' relations.

During the meeting, Grigson conferred with Boroujerdi on Australia's concerns about human and drug-trafficking.

He pointed to the talks between Iran and the six world powers in Almaty, and stated, "Continued negotiations and talks between the two sides is vital in this regards."
