Tehran, April 22, (ICANA) – Chairman of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi dismissed media reports that Tehran is waiting for the results of the June presidential election to make a final deal with the West over its nuclear issue, and said change of governments will not affect the country's strategic nuclear policy.

Change of administrations may not alter Iran's N. policy

"Achievement of nuclear rights is the Islamic Republic of Iran's strategic and permanent policy and its guidelines have been specified by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei), and the path of its progress will not come to halt or altered due to the change of governments," Boroujerdi said on Monday.

Reiterating that Iran's nuclear case will not be affected by the next presidential election, he said, "The leaders of the negotiating countries, specially the Americans, should know that Iran's nuclear case and elections are two separate issues."

Boroujerdi advised the US and other world powers negotiating with Tehran not to wait for the results of the June presidential election, and called it as a "wrong calculation".

Also, a senior Iranian foreign ministry official and a member of the Iranian team of negotiators revealed on Sunday that Iran was ready to strike a final deal with the world powers in the latest round of talks in Almaty, but the sextet paused the negotiations in anticipation of a possible change in Iran's stance following the June presidential election, and stressed that Tehran's position is irrevocable and is not influenced by developments on the scene of domestic politics.
