Iran and Norway should expand parliamentary ties

During the meeting held here in Tehran on Monday, Motahari said parliamentary ties can help the two countries use their economic and industrial capacities for the development of mutual cooperation.

"The relations between the two countries' parliaments will encourage growth and expansion of economic, cultural and academic interactions between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Norway," he added.

Elsewhere, Motahari lashed out at the western sanctions against Iran, and asked independent states not to be influenced by the world powers' policies.

The Norwegian envoy, for his part, called for closer interactions between the two states' parliaments, and expressed the hope that the new legislature in his country would speed up the trend of cooperation with Iran.

He also viewed the talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) as positive, and hoped that the political, economic and industrial relations and cooperation between Norway and Iran would promote soon.
