Larijani made the comment in a meeting with the visiting Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour.

Referring to the bilateral relations as brotherly, he emphasized the need for continued support for Beirut.

Larijani added, “The Islamic Parliament supports any approach aimed at the expansion and broadening of bilateral brotherly ties in political, economic, and cultural fields.”

Referring to the region’s current status, he said that the occurrence of any unexpected event is not improbable, reiterating, “The lack of peace and security in the region is to the loss of the Muslims and the Islamic countries, and we should not permit the trans-regional countries, or some regional countries, to impose high expenses against the region.”

Larijani furthermore referred to the defeated past experience of efforts aimed at harming the resistance axis in the region, which is pursued today in the context of the Syrian crisis and intentional intensifying of it.

He added, “The activities of the extremist terrorist groups in Syria would engage the region with numerous problems in the future.”

The Lebanese foreign minister, too, for his part appreciated the rendered supports of the Iranian nation and government for the Lebanese nation, and particularly for the Islamic resistance, arguing, “The people of Lebanon consider the Islamic Republic of Iran as a brother country by their side that has always rushed to assist them at times of need.”

Mansour appreciated the basic stands of the Islamic Republic of Iran about the regional developments, and particularly on Syria.

He added, “The Syrian crisis must be halted as soon as possible so that the extremist groups there would fail to achieve their devastating objectives.”

Mansour reiterated, “The best solution for Syria is ending the aggressive moves and beginning the political talks among the Syrian groups.”
