Continued unrest slides Egypt toward coup d’état

In an interview with ICANA on Monday, Rajayi said, “Extremism and Salafism are main reasons behind the growing wave of unrest in Egypt.”

“Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi’s resignation, as it has been demanded by the opposition, would do nothing to calm down the situation and it would even exacerbate the problems,” he added.

“Egypt’s politics is becoming highly polarized and Morsi’s mistakes in his one year in office have increased criticism about his government,” he added.
