Militarism detrimental to democratization in Egypt

“Militarism does not favor democracy…. The Army must defend the great Egyptian people against foreign threats,” Haqiqatpour said.

He added that continuation of tensions and conflict in Egypt is “worrisome” and will only serve the interests of the US and the Israeli regime.

The Iranian legislator called on influential figures and grand clerics in Egypt to intervene and help resolve the conflict within the country's geographical borders.

“The Egyptian people must practice democracy in order to avoid being exploited by the US and the usurping Zionist regime [of Israel],” Haqiqatpour stated.
