Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency – Masoud Goodarzi a reformist MP from Rostam and Mamasani electoral district pointing to the topics proposed on paying 1.7 billion dollars debt from America said: The financial settlements is related to the file of buying weaponry from Iran before the revolution 1979; this payment was done in the recent months.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said some days ago that Washington is slated to repay Iran a $400 million debt, along with an additional $1.3 billion in interest.

Kerry made the announcement on Sunday, adding that the payments date back to the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, according to the AFP.

The news comes only a day after President Barack Obama signed an executive order, lifting US economic sanctions on Iran.
