Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency – Saturday morning Dr Salim Abdullah al-Jabouri Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament had a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani; the session took two hours. After that Irani side said that there were negotiations on Iran-Iraq and the Middle East issues, "Iraq is the friend and brother country to us and in long periods of time the bilateral intertwined relationships became strong more and more".

Iranian Parliament's speaker continued: The relationships should be developed and vast; Iraq is a rich and wealthy and has a long rooted nation; we hope they be mighty and proud for ever; they should retain their territorial integrity due to this will help the region to be more calm.

Dr Salim Abdullah al-Jabouri is an Iraqi 46 year old politician who was elected as the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament on 15 July 2014.

Al-Jabouri is a Sunni Arab from Muqdadiya, Diyala Governorate who obtained a doctorate in law in 2001. He worked as a law professor at Nahrain University in Baghdad.

He was originally a member of the Iraqi Islamic Party. He was elected to the Council of Representatives of Iraq in December 2005 for the Iraqi Accord Front list and he became deputy head of parliament's legal committee. Two of his brothers, Fuad and Ahmed al-Jabouri, were killed in an attack in 2007 in Muqdadiya.
