Checking qualifications of three proposed ministers for Culture, Sports and Education

Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency – Today there is an open meeting in the main hall for surveying qualifications of the three proposed minister for ministries of Culture, Sports and Education.

The eleventh government of Islamic Republic of Iran recently committed to changes the cabinet; in this regard, three ministers – Ali Asqar Fanni (Education and Training ministry), Mahmood Goodarzi (Sports and Youth ministry) and Ali Jannati (Culture and Islamic Guidance ministry) – abdicated their seats and after that, President Hassan Rouhanni proposed three new persons to take the seats of course by positive roles of representatives in the Islamic Consultative Assembly / Majlis or Parliament.

Fakhreddin Ahmadi-Danesh-Ashtiani for Education and Training ministry: (born 1955) is a politician and scholar. Being a graduate of Imperial College London, he is a Civil Engineering Professor at K. N. Toosi University of Technology and in 2013, fourth proposed minister of Ministry of Science, Research and Technology by Hassan Rouhani Government. Before him, Rouhani had proposed Mahmoud Nili Ahmadabadi to the Iranian Parliament but he failed to get enough votes. He has served in different responsibilities including deputy of Planning and Development in Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. He was proposed as Minister of Education by President Rouhani on 23 October 2016.

Masoud Soltanifar for Sports and Youth ministry: (born 1960) a politician, historian and the current Vice President of Iran and head of Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization. He is the former member of City Council of Tehran and Governor of Gilan Province. He was previously deputy head of Physical Education Organization and Hassan Rouhani's candidate for Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, a nomination that rejected by the parliament. He is a member of National Trust Party.

Reza Salehi Amiri for Culture and Islamic Guidance ministry: (born 1962) a politician, academic and the current President of National Library of Iran since 20 February 2014. He was previously served as acting Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports from August to October 2013. On 23 October 2016, Salehi Amiri was nominated by President Hassan Rouhani as Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, needing parliament's approval.
