The recent arrests in Turkey are not normal

Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency – "the arrests which were done immediately after the coup in order to discover the truth and clearing opponents are count as tolerable but recent arrests are abnormal", said AliReza Rahimi criticizing the new wave of arrests in Turkey.

"If we put the new wave of arrests alongside the Erdogan's stance on the Iraq-Syria crisis, we find that Ankara's administration is acting despite efforts to strengthen democracy", declared the reformist MP who representing Tehran, Rey, Shemiranat, Eslamshahr and Pardis.

He continued: Turkey's ruling government should be transparent to the public; in this regard, the approach of the Islamic Republic is respect for the rights of majority and minorities in Turkey.

On 15 July 2016, a coup d'état was attempted in Turkey against state institutions, including, but not limited to the government and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The attempt was carried out by a faction within the Turkish Armed Forces that organized themselves as the Peace at Home Council. They attempted to seize control of several key places in Ankara, Istanbul, and elsewhere, but failed to do so after forces loyal to the state defeated them.
