Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency – Mohammad Hossain Moqimi deputy and political assistant of interior minister and Chief of Staff of the Iranian elections in ministry of interior affairs said about holding Iranian local elections 2017 and Iranian presidential election 2017 which both will be hold on a same day (on 19 May 2017), "We are ready to hold presidential and city council elections electronically in a third of polling stations but it would be very better if the allocated budget was more; the considered budget does not meet the needs of the Ministry of Interior and we are calling for the restoration and enhancement."

The elections in the coming year will be hold electronically just if the guardian council agrees with it

Local elections are scheduled to be held in Iran on 19 May 2017 to elect members of the City and Village Councils simultaneously with the twelfth presidential election. This kind of elections is being held every four year.

Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Iran on 19 May 2017, however, they might be held earlier under exceptional circumstances, such as the deposition, resignation or death of the President. It will be the twelfth presidential election in Iran.

The Guardian Council of the Constitution is an appointed and constitutionally-mandated 12-member council in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
