Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency – Parvana Mafi reformist politician and a member of the Parliament of Iran who is representing Tehran, Rey, Shemiranat, Eslamshahr and Pardis electoral district: Notification to and Emphasis on women's representation in various legal positions on various issues and to protect women's rights are among the important tries that Department of Women's Affairs of Presidency in executive body and women's fraction in legislative body have done up to the present time.

"There are some supportive laws which protect women but sad to say, they are very faint and feeble; their effects are not extensive and comprehensive therefore women fraction tries to organize laws which include throngs of women"

"Judicial and administrative support and also backing of NGOs are beneficial for reforming and distributing rules about women; Women fraction has provided and considered a determined plan but pursuit of the targets depends on judicial and executive support and some other conditions and circumstances"

"Most important proceeding is the modification of rules; law should determine punishment for persons who make teenager girls be married."

Legal age of marriage. According to the Islamic Republic civil code, the legal age ofmarriage in Iran is 13 for girls and 15 for boys. However, the same Act allows girls below 13 and boys below 15 to married with the consent of their father or the permission of a court judge.
