Lawmaker: No ground for return of Mubrak to power

Talking to ICANA, Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi, a member of Parliament's Legal and Judicial Committee underlined that the judiciary branch is not independent form the country’s executive body - and could not convict Mubarak in the court.

Touching upon the acquittal of Mubarak of involvement in the killing of hundreds of innocent Egyptian people during the 2011 revolution that ended his nearly three-decade reign, the lawmaker said there are three different political trends in Egypt.

He added the three Egyptian political trends stood against Mubarak during the 2011 revolution.

The judiciary brunches are not acting independently of the executive bodies in many regional countries; he said adding that fair sentences could not be expected in such states.

He also anticipated that there is any ground for return of Mubrak to power despite his acquittal.
