Lawmaker: Iran among main victims of Taliban terrorists group

Tehran, April 3, ICANA – A senior Iranian lawmaker said on Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is among main victims of Taliban terrorist group and accusing Tehran for supporting the terrorist group is absurd.

Head of Iran’s parliamentary delegation to the 136th Inter-Parliamentary Union in Dhaka Golamali Jafarzadeh Aminabadi said the remarks in reaction to the allegations leveled by representative of Afghan delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Dhaka.

The lawmaker added the Islamic Republic of Iran was the first state the emergence of Taliban to warn the international community.

Iran has suffered huge financial and spiritual losses for crisis in Afghanistan, he said.

Expressing regret over baseless allegations made by Afghan delegation, he added Iran has hosted millions of Afghan refugees over three decades.

The lawmaker underlined that  Iran has played a pivotal role for reconstruction of Afghanistan and spared no efforts to help them.

The Iranian parliamentary delegation headed by Jafarzadeh Imenabadi arrived in Bangladesh capital, Dhaka on Saturday (April 1) to attend IPU assembly

Several Iranian lawmakers are accompanying Imenabadi during the visit.

In the first day of conference, members of Iranian delegation Fatemeh Hosseini and Jalil Mokhtar attended an IPU panel on women and Mostafa Zolghadr and Hamideh Zarabadi attended the meeting of Islamic countries parliaments held on the sidelines of the 136th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) assembly meeting.

According to the official website of IPU, “Taking decisive actions to end economic, political and social inequality will be the focus of deliberations for the more than 650 MPs from 132 countries meeting in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 1-5 April 2017.

Parliamentarians, including 53 Speakers of Parliament, will make concrete proposals on a range of issues, from ending rising inequality to promoting women’s access to financing, during the 136th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) hosted by the Bangladesh Parliament.
