Senior lawmaker describes UK recent declaration on JCPOA as suspicious

Shahrouz Barzegar Golshani, a member of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy committee made the remarks in an interview with ICANA.

Touching upon the UK’ foreign secretary new statement issued for removal of anti-Iran sanctions under Iran and P5+1 nuclear deal, the MP reiterated that the elimination of sanctions have been mentioned in the nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

There is no need to issue a declaration for removal of sanctions from the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the UK and they should be remain committed to obligations under JCPOA.

The P5+1 countries are expected to comply with all of their obligations under the JCPOA, he added.

The UK not only should remove anti-Iran sanction, but should unfreeze Iranian blocked assets in that country, the lawmaker noted.

Referring to the process of Britain’s exit from the EU, popularly known as Brexit, he said London is trying to not lag behind the P5+1 countries.
