Lawmaker: Levinson not kidnapped inside Iran

Member of Iran’s Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohammad Ebrahim Rezaei made the remarks in an interview with ICANA.

Touching upon filing a lawsuit against Iran by the family of retired FBI agent Robert Levinson, who the US claims disappeared in Iran some eight years ago, he said the American officials are always trying to increase political pressure on the Islamic Republic by announcing new excuses.

The Lawmaker said Tehran has categorically denied any involvement in his disappearance allegedly in the southern Kish Island on March 9, 2007.

As per the American officials’ reports, Levinson has been kidnapped before entering Iran, Rezaei added.

Referring to the US political and international isolation, he said Washington is inciting a wave of Iranophobia to serve its interests.

Since kidnapping Levinson, the lawmaker said, the Iranian officials has cooperated with the international community in this respect.
