Larijani: Iran, Pakistan play pivotal role in tacking terrorism

Tehran, April 22, ICANA - Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani said Tehran and Islamabad have enjoyed close views on approaches toward settling regional issues, underling that the two sides play a pivotal role in tackling terrorism.

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Tehran.

He also called for settlement of Kashmir issue through peaceful means.

Larijani stressed that Iran and Pakistan are trying to establish peace and security in the region.

Describing Pakistan as a friendly neighboring country to Iran, Larijani said Islamabad has played an important role in promoting peace in the region.

“We have held very close talks in various regional and international bodies and we have very close views on how to settle regional issues,” he added.

The two countries are trying to expand economic cooperation and called for the adoption of essential strategies to augment the level of trade cooperation to nearly $5 billion.

Sadiq, for his part, called for strengthening unity among Muslims and tackling terrorism.

He added Islamabad attaches great importance to increase relations with Tehran

Sadiq underlined that Pakistan and Iran would not allow minor differences to turn into major issues.

The Pakistani official underlined that the two countries had agreed to expand military ties and hold regular meetings between the security advisors of the two sides.
