Boroujerdi: Suspension of Iran-Pakistan Peace Pipeline not reasonable

Peace Pipeline is the nickname of a megaproject to transfer Iran's gas to Pakistan. While Iran has completed its share of the project on Iranian soil, the Pakistani side has suspended construction work on it.

The lawmaker expressed hope that the Pakistani side would take essential steps in this respect.

Touching upon Iran-Pakistan ancient and historical relations, he reiterated that the history confirms that the two nations have always stood alongside each other in difficult conditions and bilateral ties are strong.

Boroujerdi also voiced Majlis, especially specialized commissions including National Secuirty and Foreign Policy Commission, willingness to expand bilateral relations.

Both officials also discussed bilateral and regional relations as well as parliamentary cooperation.

Ayaz Sadiq, for his part, referred to numerous capacities of the two countries for cooperation, saying that conclusion of a banking agreement and sisterhood deal between Chabahar and Gwadar are significant steps in line with using existing capacities in promoting bilateral ties.

Iran-Pakistan cooperation in tackling terrorism is necessary and the role of mutual cooperation in establishing peace and security in the region is indisputable, he said.
