Tehran, May 11, ICANA - A senior Iranian lawmaker said Canada’s financial support from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has no affect impact on the body’s verification of Iran’s adherence to its commitments under a July 2015 nuclear agreement between the Islamic Republic and six global powers.

Canada financial aid to IAEA not impact verification of Iran's nuclear activities

Chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi made the remarks in an interview with ICANA.

He added the IAEA verifies the nuclear activities based on a precise formula, adding that the financial aids of other countries do not affect the United Nations nuclear watchdog’s verification process.

Touching upon the Canada’s $10million financial aid to IAEA, the MP said funding the agency by its member states has no effect on the policies of UN nuclear watchdog.

So far, the IAEA has verified Iran’s adherence to its commitments under a historic nuclear deal for several times.

The IAEA is monitoring the JCPOA, which was signed between Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council - the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China plus Germany - on July 14, 2015, PressTV wrote.

Under the JCPOA, whose implementation started on January 16, 2016, Iran undertook to put limitations on its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions imposed against Tehran.
