Call for expansion of Iran, France parliamentary ties

Tehran, May 17, ICANA - Majlis (parliament) Speaker Special Aide for International Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian expressed pleasure over current parliamentary ties between Iran and France.

Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with French Ambassador in Tehran Francois Senemaud.

The Iranian official also stressed the need for further promotion of all-out cooperation between Tehran and Paris.

Hailing the parliamentary cooperation between Tehran and Paris, Amir Abdollahian expressed hope that mutual ties could be further strengthened after French parliamentary elections next month.

Congratulating Emmanuel Macron on his election as new French president, he expressed hoped that the president-elect will consider tackling terrorism among its practical priorities.

Describing diplomatic solution as a major factor in tackling terrorism, he said that Iran has from the start of the crisis stressed on dialogue and political talks.

Senemaud, for his part, reaffirmed French new administration's commitment towards Iran's nuclear with 5+1 Group.

The envoy underlined that France has always followed rational policy of establishing peace and security in the region and consider the pact in line with this policy.

Senemaud further stressed that Macron has declared that he aims to tackle Deash in Syria and help stop crisis in the country.

The envoy underscored that Macron is seeking to cooperate with regional allies such as Iran, Turkey and Lebanon in settling the crisis in Syria.
