Threatening Syria aims at selling more weapons in region: Amir-Abdollahian

Tehran, July 8, ICANA - A senior Iranian lawmaker said that the continuation of crisis in Middle East is aimed at selling more weaponry in the region.

Amir-Abdollahian underscored that escalation of regional crisis, including continuation of invasion of Yemen and threatening Syria with military attacks is pursuing to sell more weapons in the region.

He added that Syria is the forerunner in the resistance against Israel and is tackling terrorism which is an honor in contemporary history.

Touching upon the importance of reciprocal parliamentary visits he added that delegations from both countries are to pay reciprocal visits soon.

Pointing to the common stances of Tehran and Moscow, he underlined that cooperation between Tehran and Moscow would pave the way for Syria to tackle the terrorist groups.

Amir-Abdollahian added that since the start of Syrian crisis, the first priority of Syrian enemies were to eliminate President Bashar al-Assad, the legitimate president of this Arab country.

Pointing to the growing trend of cooperation between Iran and Syria, Adnan Mahmud, for his part, said that Iran enjoys very pivotal position in the region and its role in the region is undeniable.

The US and west are trying to reduce the Islamic Republic of Iran's role and influence in the region, but wise decisions of the supreme leader neutralized this move, he said.
