MP: JCPOA led to removal of over 900 sanctions

Tehran, July 13, ICANA – A senior Iranian lawmaker hailed the achievements of the historic nuclear deal between Iran and the major world powers, underscoring that the agreement has resulted in the elimination of more than 900 sanctions against the country.

Talking to ICANA, Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh stressed that the some 919 sorts of sanctions have been removed in the post-JCPOA era and 245 other sanctions have remained.

The MP made the remarks while the Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh was briefing Majlis on a $5 billion gas deal signed with France’s energy giant Total.

Falahatpisheh hailed the deal as among the achievements of the JCPOA.

He noted that the agreement with Total is in line with national interests.

Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council — the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia — plus Germany inked the historic nuclear accord known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in July 2015 and  started implementing it in January last year.
