Martyr Beheshti: Endorsing Iran's president-elect not ceremonial

Tehran, Aug 2, ICANA - Martyr Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini Beheshti Ex-Chief Justice of Iran strictly had announced that endorsement of Iran presidential decree is not ceremonial.

According to ICANA, in each presidential term, a person is elected as a president by popular vote.

As per Iran's Constitution, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution should endorse who won the majority of votes.

At the time of the evaluating the draft Article 110 of the Constitution, some lawmakers had doubts about the enforcement of the presidential decree.

In the second volume, the detailed narrative book of the parliamentary deliberations on the final review of the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, p. 1189, Martyr Beheshti had announced that the endorsement of Iran presidential decree is not ceremonial.

According to the Article 121 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Iranian President must take an oath during a ceremony in the presence of the Judiciary chief and the members of the Guardian Council.

Article 121 says that the President of the Islamic Republic must take the following oath and add his signature to it
