Larijani calls for expansion of Iran-S. Africa ties

Tehran, Sep 2, ICANA - Iran's Parliament Speaker on Saturday called for expansion of Iran, South Africa more collaboration in counter-terrorism efforts.

Larijani made the remarks in a joint press conference attended by his visiting South African counterpart Baleka Mbet in Tehran.

 He also praised South Africa’s stance on defending Palestinians' rights.

“Several spheres of investment between the two countries were discussed with South Africa's Parliament Speaker,' Larijani added.

He also described his meeting with his African counterpart as satisfactory.

Larijani underlined that the ways for expansion of trade cooperation as emphasized by the two countries' presidents, especially with regard to electricity power, also were discussed during the meeting.

'The two countries could enjoy cordial relations in the gas, oil and transportation,' Larijani said.

He described Iran-South Africa parliamentary ties and cooperation as 'positive' and expressed hope that the visit by the South African delegation to Iran would flourish trade ties between the two countries.
