Talking to ICANA, Qasem Jasemi a member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said the move would create serious problems among the Kurdish minorities in Iran, Turkey and Syria.

He added that the Iraqi government and parliament have also voiced its opposition with the separation of the Kurdish region.

On September 25, the Kurdistan Regional Government held the non-binding referendum on secession from Iraq in defiance of stiff opposition from the central government in Baghdad and much of the international community. Kurdish officials said over 90 percent of voters said ‘Yes’ to separation from Iraq.
