Talking to ICANA, Heshmatollah Falahat-Pisheh, a member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee stressed that imprisonment of Negar Qodsi-Kani was obviously a “breach of human rights.”

Negar Qodsi-Kani, an Iranian woman residing in Australia, has been jailed by the Australian judicial officials since June 16, 2017 over alleged charges of violating the US commercial laws.

Touching upon the Negar’s situation, the lawmaker said since the Iranian lady, who was arrested on charges of violating the US trade regulations, was pregnant at the time of her arrest, she should not have been treated the way she is now even if she had violated US trade regulations.

He added that the nature of such accusations is not satisfactory for Iran, because a pregnant woman should not be apprehended due to an act deserving no legal punishment.
