Ecuadorian, Senegalese Speakers to Visit Iran Soon

"The Ecuadorian speaker will arrive in Tehran on Sunday at the official invitation of Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in a bid to expand parliamentary and bilateral relations and will remain in Iran until February 25," Larijani's Advisor for International and Foreign Policy Affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam told FNA on Saturday. Sheikholeslam mentioned that the Ecuadorian speaker is slated to meet with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Head of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi and a number of ministers in addition to his Iranian counterpart. Sheikholeslam also referred to the visit by the Senegalese parliament speaker on Tuesday, and said his trip would last for 5 to 6 days and that he is also due to hold meetings with high-ranking Iranian officials. Iran has sought hard in the last few years to boost ties and cooperation with both Africa and Latin America and has established a strong foothold in the markets of the countries in both continents. Tehran has prioritized promotion of its economic and political ties with the African and Latin American states and the country is now considered as one of the African Union's strategic partners.
