The ruling bloc as well as major opposition parties are supporting the bill, which is expected to be approved on Monday, radioaustralianews.net reported.

Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda says getting the budget through parliament quickly will result in help for the disaster-hit region.

The money will be used to clear massive amounts of rubble and build temporary housing for thousands of people who lost their homes.
