Iran, Venezuela Eye More Joint Ventures

TEHRAN, April 29 (ICANA) – Iranian Ambassador to Venezuela Shahin Rostam Khani, and President of Venezuelan National Assembly Luis Fernando Soto Rojas in a meeting evaluated the progress of the joint projects the two nations have been working on over the past few years.

Looking for broader cultural, economic, political and social cooperation, the two envoys also voiced support for greater freedom and democracy for their people.
The venue for the official meeting was the Federal Legislative Palace in which the sides also agreed to strengthen parliamentary groups. Press TV reported.

 According to the Iranian Ambassador, the ties between Venezuela and Iran are excellent and both governments are willing to address the needs and demands of their communities.
Other topics of discussion included technology transfer and scientific cooperation through joint ventures.
Trade between Venezuela and Iran has grown steadily and the two countries have launched joint ventures in a number of sectors, including energy, agriculture, housing, and infrastructure. The value of industrial development projects carried out by Iranian firms in Venezuela stands well above $4 billion. The two major oil producers also cooperate closely in the OPEC.
The Iranian ambassador also said relations between Venezuela and Iran are based on a policy of social justice that has allowed the two sides to develop several joint projects and enhance solidarity as opposed to imperialism, which is a one-sided relationship.
