No One Should Provide Pretext for Propaganda against Iran: Leader

“Any action which will delight the enemies and provide them with the pretext to create a commotion should be avoided,” the Leader said during a meeting with the city and village councilors and mayors on Saturday.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader said, “Lack of coordination and negative competition are harmful to the country.”

Ayatollah Khamenei also highlighted the importance of local councils, saying the establishment of city and village councils is one of the greatest honors of the Islamic system.

“The establishment of city and village councils, which is envisaged in the Constitution, shows the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to involve all people with differing views in the management of the country’s affairs, and this is the opposite of the common practice in dictatorial and reactionary systems,” he said.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is proud that since the first day (of its establishment) it has paid attention to people’s votes, demands, and viewpoints,” he stated.

The Leader also advised the councilors to pay due attention to cultural issues, saying construction and development plans in cities and villages should be based on the Iranian architecture, religious beliefs, and local climate and social structure.
