Larijani Calls for Concrete Measures to Prevent Violence against Bahrainis

Larijani in a letter to his counterparts from Islamic countries called for practical steps to prevent violation of Bahrainis' rights and hostile treatment with their legitimate demands.

In the letter, Larijani said that deployment of foreign forces in Bahrain coincided with apparent violation of defenseless people's rights.

"The actions (actions of foreign forces) are in contradiction with Islamic and moral principles and international and civil rights conventions," he said in the letter.

Anti-government protests against the rule of the al-Khalifa dynasty in Bahrain began in mid-February.

In March, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait deployed their troops in crisis-hit Bahrain to help brutal, armed and hostile crackdown on Bahraini protesters.

Scores of protesters have been killed and many others have gone missing during the harsh crackdowns.

Most Bahraini media outlets have been blocked and several mosques have been demolished by the Bahraini government.

Amnesty International and the Human Rights Watch have also condemned the Bahraini and Saudi regimes for their heavy-handed tactics against the Bahraini population.

Iran also condemned sentence of death issued by a Bahraini court against four Bahraini protestors.
