Larijani Meets President Aliyev in Baku

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1 (ICANA) – Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani met with President ILham Aliyev here Friday and called for development of bilateral economic relations.

Larijani Meets President Aliyev in Baku

Larijani is visiting Azerbaijan at the invitation of his Azeri counterpart Ogtay Asadov.

Larijani hailed the brotherly and deeply religious, historical and political ties between the two nations and said economic ties needed more boost.

He said strong ties between the two parliaments will certainly help strengthen bilateral relations in other areas as well.

President Aliyev too hailed the brotherly and warm relations between Iran and Azerbaijan and asked for his respect and greetings to be conveyed to the Supreme Leader and President of Iran.

He said Azerbaijan was glad to see the Iranian Leader succeed in administering Iran and bring the country progress under the current volatile global conditions.

He also called for continuation of trilateral meetings between top officials of Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan, adding that more shuttles between the officials of Baku and Tehran will help further strengthening of ties.

Aliyev also called for expansion of economic as well as parliamentary ties between Iran and Azerbaijan.

Larijani arrived in Baku Thursday at the head of a high-level parliamentary and political delegation.   

Larijani during his two-day visit to Azerbaijan will meet with high-ranking Azeri officials, attend a press conference and also visit the historic Azeri city of Ganjeh.
