The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told RIA Novosti that Saleh will have to spend up to six months in a hospital in Saudi Arabia.

"His condition is still grave, however he is recovering. His doctors say that the treatment may take from three to up to six months. Now he is undergoing burn treatment procedures, including plastic surgery," the source said.

Saleh was seriously injured in a rocket attack on his compound in the Yemeni capital Sana'a on June 3 and travelled to Saudi Arabia to receive medical treatment on June 4.

Last week, Saleh's spokesman, Ahmed al-Sufi, said that Saleh would hold a press conference within 48 hours, but Saleh never appeared.

"The president's health and appearance did not allow," the source said.

Since Saleh left the country, Yemeni protesters have been staging daily demonstrations in Sana'a, demanding that Vice President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi establish an interim ruling council to prevent Saleh's return to power.
