At the end of the IPU’s opening session, Larijani discussed major regional developments in separate meetings with Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Jassem Al-Kharafi, Iraq's Parliament Speaker Usama al-Nujeify and Speaker of Maghreb’s Parliament Abdul Wahid Al Radi.
Later in the day, the Iranian speaker also held talks with Speaker of the Algerian Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament) Abdelkader Bensalah in the Algerian Embassy in Bern.
The two discussed issues of mutual interests as well as the latest developments in the North Africa and the Middle East regions.
They also stressed the need for further promotion of cooperation between the Iranian and Algerian parliaments.
The speakers also said that Tehran and Algiers enjoyed common views on the ongoing developments in the North Africa and the Middle East regions which would help solve problems facing the two regions.
The 125th Assembly of International Inter-parliamentary Union is being held here in Bern from October 16-20 with the participation of representatives from more than 120 member states.
