Iran not to bow to western pressures

Mir-Kazzemi pointed to the European Union's new embargo against the Iranian oil industries, and noted, "Sanctions may inflict further costs on us but for sure they will not block the Islamic Iran's progress."

Mir-Kazzemi, who is also a former Iranian oil minister, said enemies are using Iran's nuclear activities as an excuse to impose massive sanctions against Iran, and stated, "The western sanctions and threats mainly aim to make us give up our causes and bow to the EU and US bullying attitude."

The lawmaker, however, said that the Iranian nation will not retreat from its causes under such pressures.

His remarks came after the EU enforced a set of sanctions against Iranian oil supplies on July 1.
