“Iraq has been the target of the Western countries' spite as well as some Arab and neighboring countries since it overthrew the dictatorship of Saddam [Hussein] and established a popular Shia government in the country,” Azizi said on Saturday.
He added that some of Iraq’s neighboring countries have been fanning the flames of violence in the country during the past three months through encouragement of the Western countries.
“This is while the people of Iraq trust [Prime Minister] Nouri al-Maliki and consider him a proper administrator for this country,” the lawmaker pointed out.
Azizi also noted that some Iraqi people demand political reforms and hold peaceful protests which have been welcomed by the Iraqi government; however, West's mercenaries and reactionary Arabs have been infiltrating the peaceful demonstrations to cause unrest in the country.
He noted that the arrogant powers and their lackeys aim to prevent the establishment of another Shia government in the Middle East by targeting the government of Nouri al-Maliki and claim that Iraq has been touched by the Islamic Awakening.
