Iran always supports constructive talks with IAEA

“Iran has nothing to hide concerning its nuclear activities and has, in the past few months, cooperated with the International Atomic Energy Agency beyond its normal obligations,” Larijani said in his opening address to Majlis session this morning.

Commenting on the latest report presented by the IAEA’s Director General Yukiya Amano on Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, Larijani said since Tehran has been making all its nuclear moves under the direct IAEA supervision, “we expect to see a fair report by the agency chief.”

The speaker regretted that parts of Amano’s report were ˈstereotypical and dictated to them in advance to confuse the international media.”

“The IAEA is a professional international body in the nuclear area and should not act in a way which would lead to its self-destruction,” Larijani stressed.

He added that if the report was published prior to Iran’s nuclear talks in order to affect its trend, it should be realized that the report “would by no means influence the negotiators.”

Larijani said that the talks should be held based on obligations of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and should not be disturbed by such conspiracies in the present situation.

The speaker added that the talks should be held in a way which would maintain Iran’s legitimate nuclear rights.
