West silence on HR abuse in S Arabia shows hypocrisy

“The Al Saud regime easily violates human rights because it is an ally to the US,” Monadi said on Thursday, adding that Riyadh is not even subjected to criticism over its violent conduct.

“This shows the West’s dual and contradictory attitude toward the issues of human rights and democracy in different countries,” he added.

“The silence of Western countries, particularly the US, with regard to the clear violation of human rights in Saudi Arabia is meaningful.”

Monadi said that Al Saud regime has never been committed to the principles of democracy in its country.

He pointed to the torture of inmates in Saudi prisons and said, “This is while the so-called advocates of human rights have never protested against such deplorable situation and have not taken any measures.”

The Iranian lawmaker said the Al Saud regime suppresses any protest in the worst possible way and as an agent of arrogant powers even participates in the crackdown on uprisings in other countries.
