Majlis Speaker departs for Tehran

New Delhi, March 1, (ICANA) – Ali Larijani, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis) on Friday departed for Tehran from New Delhi after a fruitful visit.

Ali Larijani had arrived in New Delhi from Mumbai on Tuesday. He was in India since February 24 on a five-day official visit upon an invitation from the Lok Sabha Speaker Meera Kumar.

During the visit Iranian Diplomat have parleys with the Prime Minister, President, Vice President and Lok Sabha Speaker.

The leaders of both the countries discussed bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interests. They also explored the ways to boost the relations in all sectors.

Beside the parleys with Indian leadership and high ranking officials in Delhi, Larijani also visited Delhi University to attend a seminar hosted by the Persian Department of the university in memory of Ameer Hussain Abidi, former head of the Persian Department of the university.

Iranian Speaker, who kicked off his visit from Mumbai, business capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra, had hectic schedule in Mumbai. He met with the Governor of Maharashtra, Chairman of the Legislative Council and also addressed the business meet at World Trade Centre,

During the parleys with the Indian officials in Mumbai, Iranian official discussed bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interests.

Larijani also pitched for the enhancement of trade ties with India in his address at the business meeting.

It is hoped that this friendly visit will prepare ground for better economic and industrial cooperation between the two friendly countries, Iran and India.
