An American senator's private trip to Iran is not acceptable

Islamic Consultative Assembly News Agency – "Travel of some authorities of some countries is associated with sensitivities, so I and my colleagues do not accept such travels especially if it is a personal one!" states Masoud Goodarzi a reformist MP in the 10th period of Islamic Consultative Assembly.

He declares: It is necessary to be a clarification on the aim of the travel and institutions related; according to the prevailing conditions and relations between Iran and America, an American senator's travel to Iran is very sensitive while our authorities did not know about it; How could such a person easily come to Iran?! This question and some others should be soon answered.

There are no formal diplomatic relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America. Because the two nations currently do not have direct diplomatic relations, instead of exchanging ambassadors, Iran maintains an interests section at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington, D.C., while the United States has maintained a corresponding interests section at the Swiss Embassy in Tehran (since 1980).

Jim Dabakis is an American politician a Democrat from Salt Lake City, Utah is a member of Senate, who recently has come to Iran for four days.
